Flux is now in the top 100 for Computational Resources in the world and is still growing. Computational resources are the hardware and software components that are used to perform computations, process and store data.

They are an integral part of any computing system and play a crucial role in determining the performance and efficiency of the system.

Let’s take a closer look at the different types of computational resources and how they work.

Types of Computational Resources

Flux has built up and accelerated the pace on increasing its network throughout the last 12 months. Bringing with it the the ability to launch the next generation of Web 3 applications. But what are computational resources?

CPU (Central Processing Unit)

The CPU, also known as the processor, is the brain of the computer. It is responsible for executing instructions from software programs and performing mathematical calculations.

The CPU is the most critical computational resource, as it is responsible for most of the work that a computer does.

The speed and number of cores (the processing units within the CPU) determine the performance of the CPU and how quickly it can perform computations.

Memory (RAM)

Memory, also known as RAM (Random Access Memory), is where the CPU stores information that it needs to access quickly. It acts as a temporary workspace for the CPU, allowing it to quickly access data that it needs to perform its calculations.

The more memory a computer has, the more information it can store and the faster it can access that information.

Storage Devices

Storage devices, such as hard drives and solid-state drives (SSDs), are where a computer stores its long-term data. This includes the operating system, applications, and personal files. Unlike memory, storage devices are slower and can’t be directly accessed by the CPU. Instead, the data is loaded into memory so that the CPU can access it quickly.

Network Bandwidth

Network bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted over a network in a given amount of time. It is a critical resource for computers that need to communicate with each other or access information from the internet.

The amount of bandwidth a computer has directly impacts the speed at which it can send or receive information.

How Computational Resources Affect Performance

Computational resources play a crucial role in our everyday lives without people even realizing it or what they are being used for.

Things like hosting Apps on your phone, to machine learning and rendering of video, even AI like ChatGPT needs these resources.

Flux hitting the top 100 is a major milestone and with the rate of growth over the last 12 months, who knows it could hit the top 50.
